48-Year-Old Man Under Arrest After Intentionally Striking Another With His Car
On Thursday, March 9, 2023, at approximately 3:20 pm, the Ramapo Police Department received a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the Hillcrest area of the Town. After their investigation, it became apparent that the man had been struck intentionally.
Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered a male victim who had sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center by the Spring Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The operator of the vehicle had remained on scene.
The Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division and the Ramapo Police Crash Investigation Unit responded to investigate and determined the operator had intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle. As a result, the 48 year old male operator from Central Nyack N.Y. was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree.
He was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court by the Honorable Judge Alan Straus and bail was set at $75,000. He was turned over to the custody of the Rockland County Jail pending future court appearances.
RPD was assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Rockland Paramedic Services and the Spring Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
