Thirst For Crime, Nearly a Dozen Tree Irrigation Bags Stolen From Trees In Nyack

by Monsey.info

Apparently, the saying “If it ain’t bolted down, they’ll steal it” has some merit.

A thirsty thief found an interesting source of water in the town of Nyack this week and walked off with nearly a dozen tree irrigation bags from newly planted trees on Liberty St and nearby locations.

The theft was discovered on Tuesday, May 17th, when Nyack’s Tree Committee noticed that the green tree irrigation bags they had placed on the new trees were missing.

The thefts weren’t just a matter of convenience, as the stolen bags were missing from trees on Liberty St (behind Post Office), at the Catherine St parking lot on Main Street, and Veterans Park on Main Street. That means that the thieves went too far lengths to gather them up.

To ensure that such thefts would never happen again, the Department spray-painted the replacement tree irrigators with clear white lettering.

If anybody has information about the theft – please contact Orangetown police at 845-359-3700 and the village administrator’s office at administrator@nyack-ny.gov.
