After Shooting, Short Term Rentals May Be banned In Clarkstown

Following a shooting that took place this past Saturday, Clarkstown Politicians are calling for a ban on short term rentals, something that already has a date for a town vote.

“In light of the horrific shooting incident committed this weekend in New City, Supervisor Hoehmann and the Town Board have directed the Town Attorney to schedule a public hearing for Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 7:00PM to amend the town code to eliminate short term rentals within the Town,” the town wrote on Facebook.

The shooting took place in broad daylight, just meters away from multiple children playing.

According to reports, a group from Brooklyn had rented a home listed for rent as short term online. During the day, a black Mercedes pulled up to the house and five people, also from Brooklyn, got out.

According to witnesses, the group approached the door to the home, and after not being allowed inside, they opened fire.

No one was injured and the five shooters arrested.

Clarkstown’s Police Chief stated that he believed the incident was gang related, and an investigation is underway.
