An Airmont man was arrested Thursday after he tampered with an area gas station, was released, then rearrested for damaging a hotel.

“Yesterday Ramapo PD officers went to arrest a 41 year old Airmont NY man for Criminal Tampering 3rd,” the Ramapo Police Department wrote. “The charge stemmed from damage that he caused at an area convenience store/gas station.”

According to the police, the male had violently resisted arrest, spit in the face and on the arms of several officers, while threatening to kill the officers. The man continued to struggle with the officers while they attempted to take him into custody, forcing an officer to deploy a taser.

The male continued to resist to avoid his arrest, requiring an additional taser deployment. He was eventually taken into custody and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Upon completion, he was transported to RPD HQ and processed for the following charges; Criminal Tampering 3rd – misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest – misdemeanor, Obstructing Governmental Administration – misdemeanor and Harassment 2nd – violation. He was released on an appearance ticket, with no bail and advised to return to court on a future date.

After being released, the male went to a local hotel and caused damage, and was arrested again and charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd – felony.

He is currently being held at RPD HQ pending arraignment.
