Arrest Made After Multiple Rockland Restaurants Reported Thefts of Their Used Cooking Oil
Over the past several weekends, a number of restaurants and businesses in the Town of Ramapo had reported thefts of used cooking oil from their businesses. The Ramapo Police Investigations Division had identified a vehicle utilized in the crimes, as well as a pattern of activity.
Earlier this week, Ramapo Police detectives conducted surveillance and observed the suspect vehicle enter the Town. The vehicle was followed to a business in Monsey where the suspect began emptying the oil container. Detectives arrested the male without incident.
The 49 year old male from Queens, NY was charged with multiple counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Burglars Tools to encompass all past incidents. He was also in possession of heroin and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. His vehicle and equipment were impounded as evidence.
He was released from custody pending future court appearance.
