ASHAR Day School Cancels Classes Through Next Week Over Coronavirus

by Monsey.info

The Ashar Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy Of Rockland, commonly known as ASHAR, has followed the example of the East Ramapo Public schools in canceling classes for the next week.

The cancellation comes as Rockland County braces for what is expected to be a ballooning of Coronavirus cases.

A call to the school was connected to a recorded message, saying that the school would be closed on March 11th.

School cancellations have become widespread, with the governor moving all college classes online, and some public schools closing in effected areas.

A group of twelve New Jersey Jewish day schools also announced cancellations through March 20th.

The best defense against the virus continues to be simple hand washing with soap, according to the CDC. Simple home hand sanitizer  is also effective in killing the virus.

To date, over a hundred thousand people have been infected globally, with over 4,000 dying of the COVID-19 virus, mostly in China.

Those at highest risk are the elderly and those with preexisting medical conditions, while the young and healthy are at very low risk of the virus, mostly showing only minimal symptoms before returning to normal health.
