Assemblyman Michael Lawler Sworn in

by Monsey.info

On Sunday, January 3rd, Michael Lawler was sworn in to serve as a Member of the New York State Assembly.

Lawler, who won his seat with strong support from the Jewish community, was accompanied by his wife and Jewish leaders as he took his oath of office.

Born in Suffern, New York, Michael Lawler earned a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College in 2009, and held a position as deputy town supervisor for the Town of Orangetown.

In his remarks after being formally sworn in, Assemblyman Lawler addressed the challenges facing the 97th Assembly District, calling for transparency and accountability, and pledged to collaborate with his colleagues.

In a post on his social media page, Lawler wrote “Yesterday, I was joined by my family, friends, supporters, and colleagues, as I was sworn in to serve as a Member of the New York State Assembly for the next two years. However, better than being sworn in, was watching my wife Doina Lawler lead us in the pledge of allegiance, as a new American citizen. Even with the limited attendance due to Covid, it was a great day and I’m grateful to those who could join in person and watching online to support me and my family as I take office. Let’s get to work!”
