BREAKING: Regime Change In Syria, Damascus Captured By Rebel Fighters
by Monsey.info
A major shift of power has changed the landscape of the Middle East tonight as Syrian rebel fighters take control of the City of Damascus in a lighting assault.
The collapse of the Syrian regime under Bashar Al Assad began just days ago after it became clear that the Hezbollah-Lebanon-Israel ceasefire would hold, and a group of Turkish backed Islamic rebels began an offensive against the Syrian army from the north.
Town after town fell in a lighting assault as Russian and Iranian support for the Syrian regime disintegrated, leaving the weakened regime to fend for itself. It very quickly fell apart.
Two major cities in northern Syria fell in astoundingly fast fashion, splitting Syria in two and leaving the path to the capital city of Damascus wide open. Democratic forces backed by the US also went on the move, and together have collapsed the regime in a matter of days.
On Motzei Shabbos the news that the rebels had reached Damascus was announced, with the International Airport and military bases falling without a significant fight. In fact, Syrian army units have essentially defected, many crossing in neighboring Iraq for asylum while other donned civilian clothes and attempted to blend in with the populace.
This is a major shift of power in the region, showing Russia’s disinterest or ability to prop up the regime while Iran is still reeling from losing most of its proxy forces.
The Israeli Military has announced that it has stepped up its alert on the Golan Heights and may make a move to establish a buffer zone in the area to protect its borders.
