Chabad Music Artist and Rabbi, Charts #1 in Israel with Song About The Coming of Moshiach

March was quite the eventful month for Reb Moshe Reuven, with the Charting of his hit single, ‘Red and Yellow’ hitting #1 on the Spotify Charts for Israel and coming off a successful tour in the UK. While in England, as Moshe was preparing for one of his shows he found as he paused for a moment checking the recent news on his latest release, that he had jumped from being 17th on the Israel Charts to #1. This chart position making him the only Orthodox Jewish male to have ever reached #1 on Israel’s Spotify Charts.

‘Red and Yellow’, Moshe told the BBC in an interview, is a song about how we go through things in life and don’t always know why. People can undergo (has vshalom) various challenges, setbacks, tragedies and the like, and we’re taught it’s all good in some way but we don’t always know or see how. When Moshiach comes, there won’t be any wars, hatred, troubles, and that there will be understanding. We’ll be able to see the darkness we weren’t able to understand and how it was light. A song, he wrote on his announcement of the chart position, that takes this teaching and, just as it has brought him consoling, is aimed to bring that same consolation to others. The words, “Red” and “Yellow” are detailing the coming of Moshiach, as stated in a prophecy in Tanach that when Moshiach will come the sky will shine red and yellow. The song has gone on to break a number of records in Israel, including the most streamed song in a day in Israel’s Spotify History by an orthodox Jew. As well as, the 4th most streamed song in a day in Israel’s Spotify History overall (now currently 5th).

Towards the end of Moshe’s two week tour, (while fasting for Tanis Ester) he sat down with the BBC, Metro, Jewish News, and about a dozen other news reporters for a media day, discussing his activism in the UK while on tour, the fight against antisemitism, the war in Gaza, “Red and Yellow’, and his journey as a Ba’al Teshuva who has ventured his way into mainstream music.

The tour was a massive success, helping strengthen jewish pride in the UK, during a time when antisemitism has been on the rise. Some of the jewish groups he got to speak to include Chabad houses and a performance on Purim in Manchester for Chabad Young Professionals. The main locations Moshe’s tour took him were London and Manchester, especially as those included the highest concentration of his fans, as well as, the Jewish community of England. At each event, he would do a meet and greet, connecting with people of all backgrounds on a more personal one on one level.
