County Executive Calls Out Cuomo Over Blanket Rockland Movie Theater Ban

It’s “Just not right,” according to County Executive Ed Day, who posted on social media against Governor Cuomo’s continued lockdown f Rockland Movie Theaters.

While Day agrees with the general requirements on the reopening of movie theaters, calling them basic, simplistic, and frankly not breaking any new ground, he does take issue with the length of time it took to get them back up and running.

He also takes issue with a more relevant topic, writing “Why in God’s name is the ENTIRE county of Rockland being punished because we have ONE Red Zone that is geographically a small part of the county, one that has approximately 75% of the COVID infections?”

According to Cuomo, New York City in general, as well as counties with Red Zones were skipped over in the movie theaters reopening, including Rockland County.

“This is a classic case of punishing he innocent because a few wish to flout the rules,” wrote Day. “The vast majority of our County in twenty-three other zip codes have both followed the rules and meet the very low infection rates necessary to re-open. “

It is yet to be seen if the rules, which have changed consistently, will change again, and allow for the theaters reopening.
