County Updates On Storm Damage
The County of Rockland is pleased to announce the reopening of several major roads less than 48 hours after Sunday’s severe storm that caused significant damage to our community. Thanks to the dedicated teams of emergency responders, public works personnel, and road maintenance crews who have been working tirelessly to restore access the following roads have reopened:
- Route 210 in Stony Point
- Route 210 from Cedar Flats Road to Old Route 210
- Cedar Flats Road from Route 210 to PIP Entrance
- Bulsontown Road at Mott Farm Road intersection
Please note that while these roads have been reopened, some areas may still require caution as repair work is ongoing. We urge all residents to remain vigilant and adhere to any temporary signage or traffic instructions in place.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to the public works staff, emergency responders, and road maintenance teams who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism throughout this challenging period,” said County Executive Ed Day. “Their relentless efforts have enabled us to restore normalcy to our community sooner than anticipated.”
The following roads remain closed:
- Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) from Exit 14 to Route 6, both directions
- Route 9W from Tomkins Cove to Bear Mountain
- Bear Mountain Bridge
- Route 9W from Bear Mountain Circle to Fort Montgomery
- Goat Trail from Bear Mountain Bridge to Peekskill/Westchester
- Route 6 from PIP over the mountain into Orange County
“As we continue to focus on our recovery, we encourage residents to report any remaining issues with road conditions or any other storm-related concerns to proper authorities,” said County Executive Day.
The County of Rockland worked with New York State and Governor Kathy Hochul to be included under the State of Emergency declared for the storm damage. This enables Rockland to be included to potentially receive Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Funding. Residents are encouraged to save all receipts for repairs in case that funding is made available.
