Eight Arrested At Monsey Shul On First Day of Yom Tov

Eight men were arrested on Thursday morning, the first day of Yom Tov, outside the Congregation Shaarei Chesed shul at 92 North Saddle River Road in Monsey, NY.

The Ramapo Police Department named the arrests due to an “illegal gathering,” which have been banned by State and Local orders over the COVID-19 virus.

A Ramapo officer was reportedly in front of the location and asked for additional Ramapo police officers responded to assist.

According to a press release, the gathering was illegal due to it having more than 10 people, but did not explain why only eights were arrested.

Those arrested were released on appearance tickets without bail.

The Ramapo Police Department noted that “We will continue to actively patrol and also check on reports of people who are violating orders.”
