Garnerville Man Arrested For Breach of Warrant, Found To Be In Possession of Loaded Firearm

The Haverstraw Police Department announces the arrest of Kevin Reyes (24) of Garnerville, NY.

Last evening at approximately 11:20pm, Haverstraw Police Department personnel observed the defendant in the Village of Haverstraw. The defendant was known to have an active bench warrant for his arrest. The defendant was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and a controlled substance.

The defendant was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree : loaded firearm (Class C Felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (Class A Misdemeanor) in addition to the bench warrant for criminal contempt 2nd degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

The defendant was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court where he was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail in the amount of $80,000 cash / $150,000 bond / $150,000 partially secure bond.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
