Gimmel Tammuz, The Yartzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe

THIS SHABBAT: The 25th Yahrzeit of The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of Blessed Memory

This Shabbat, the third day of the Hebrew month of Tammuz 5779, corresponding to July 6, 2019, marks the 25th yahrzeit (anniversary of passing) of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of blessed memory.

Tradition teaches that the yahrzeit of a tzadik (righteous person) is a most auspicious day to elicit blessings from on high.

The following are some suggested ways to commemorate the yahrzeit and the days in close proximity to it:

GOODNESS AND KINDNESS

Perform an additional act of kindness in the spirit of the Rebbe’s nonjudgmental love for all. Share your love of Judaism with another Jew.

TORAH STUDY

Study some Torah, especially a teaching of the Rebbe which may be found in several hundred volumes in multiple languages. Share it with others as well.

PRAYER AND REFLECTION

Set aside time for prayer and reflection. Visit the Rebbe’s holy resting place, known as the Ohel. A letter may also be sent to be placed at the Ohel on your behalf (see details below).

May all of our prayers be answered, and may we soon see a world—as envisioned by our prophets—with peace, health, and prosperity for all.
