How High Can Your Taxes Go? Rockland County Leads The Country in Tax Increases
by Monsey.info
While it may be nice to be the leader of something in the country, being the leader in tax hikes may not be that satisfying.
According to a report by ATTOM Data Solutions, Rockland County led the country as the unflattering leader in Average Annual Tax Increases For 2020.
According to the report, the average tax on a single-family home in Rockland County climbed 4.4 percent to $3,719, double the rate of increase in 2019, according to the real estate analytics firm.
“The latest tax numbers speak loud and clear about the continuing pressure on both recent and longtime homeowners to support the rising cost of public services,” said Todd Teta, ATTOM’s chief product officer.
On the county level, twelve of the sixteen areas with average annual taxes of more than $10,000 were in the New York City metro area — led by Rockland County, NY, where the charge was $13,931.
Over the past few years, despite the rising taxes, Rockland County has seen a major influx of residents moving from the New York area, especially Orthodox Jews.
