Hundreds Spend The Day at Chaverim’s Safety Day

The widely popular and heavily attended event took place on the fields of Viola Park Sunday, attended by hundreds of Rockland residents and officials.

Bikes, scooters, segues, and carriages were registered with the police department as a safety feature, allowing the department to quickly identify their owners and deter thefts. Free helmets were be distributed during the event as well.

Notable attendees at the event included New York State Assemblyman Mike Lawler, Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, and Rockland Legislator Aron Wieder.

Safety education and awareness presentations were also be given throughout the afternoon by the Monsey Fire Department, New York State Police, Rockland County Sheriff, the Town of Ramapo Police Department, Spring Valley Police, Brewer Fire Department, the Coast Guard, and Hatzolah of Rockland. Children also enjoyed balloon rides, helium balloons, prizes, cotton candy, slush, drinks and ices.

The day focused on showing children that fun and safety can be combined into one exciting day.
