Indoor Mask Mandate to End in Israel, Still Required on Flights
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Hurwitz decided today that Israel‘s mask mandate will end on Saturday evening, April 23. This ruling means that, after more than two years, Israelis will be able to gather indoors without wearing masks.
The ruling states that masks will still be required in places with high potential for infection, such as hospitals and nursing homes. Additionally, at this time, masks will continue to be required on flights.
Chaim V’Chessed notes that US-based airlines Delta, United and American have largely ceased requiring masks on flights to Israel since Monday’s ruling by a federal judge striking down the US mask mandate. However, El Al Airlines continues to enforce the mask requirement.
