Library Stabber Was Out On Attempted Rape Charges Under New Bail Reform Law

The person who fatally stabbed Sandra Wilson at a library in Spring Valley was released from custody on attempted rape charges, thanks to New York’s Criminal Justice Reforms.
Gaudin Blanchard, 25, had been released under the new bail reform laws after being accused of attempted rape at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in November, according to LoHud.
Nyack Justice Robert Knoebel had initially set Gaudin’s bail at $100,000 until Dec. 26, when a County Court judge released him without bail under the new criminal justice reforms.
Glaudin missed three court dates in January, including a Jan. 7th scheduled appearance.
Glaudin now stands charged with second-degree murder.
According to a Spring Valley Police press release, Wilson, who worked at the library as a security guard, had asked Gaudin to please lower the volume of the music he was listening to on his headphones. Gaudin pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed her.
