As Hurricane Henri approaches landfall on Long Island in New York, we will be keeping our readers appraised on the latest news on the massive storm.
Information will be posted as updates the day progresses. Revisit the page periodically to read the latest updates.
Update 12:40pm: Henri has made landfall near the Connecticut/Rode Island border, bringing strong winds and rain to the area.
Update: Message From George Hoehmann; “We still expect Henri to impact our area in a significant way. Rain is just starting to fall in the region and will intensify later this morning and into the afternoon. We are expecting between 2 to 5 inches of rain between now and late Monday morning which is likely to cause flooding in the typical low lying areas that normally flood. In addition the winds now are expected to be in the 20 to 30MPH range with gusts up to 40MPH which may cause tree damage.”
Update: Henri has been reduced from a Category 1 Hurricane to a Tropical storm, meaning that the maximum sustained winds are now 70MPH down from 75MPH.
Update: Hurricane Henri has turned slightly East, out towards the ocean, reducing the impact of the storm on Rockland County slightly.
