Man Drowns In Rockland County Pond Thursday
At approximately 12:40pm Thursday afternoon, the Spring Valley Police Department and the Spring Valley Fire Department responded to the pond located at Memorial Park for a person who was swimming in the water, went under, and had not resurfaced.
According to the police, members of the Spring Valley Police Department and Fire Department initially attempted to locate the victim, however, they were unsuccessful.
Dive teams from the Piermont Fire Department and Thiells Fire Department were requested to assist in the search and rescue efforts. Search teams were able to locate an unresponsive male in the water, but despite resuscitative efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of this ongoing investigation, the Spring Valley Police Department is attempting to locate any witnesses to this incident and/ or anyone who may have information leading to the identity of the victim. The victim is described as a Hispanic male, believed to be approximately 40 years of age, and lived in Spring Valley. Involved in this operation was the Spring Valley Fire Department, Piermont Fire Department, Thiells Fire Department, Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps, Rockland Paramedic Services, The Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
