Man Indicted Over 2020 Murder in Spring Valley

Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh announced the indictment by a Rockland County Grand Jury of Jack Ramirez (DOB 3/1/2001) of Spring Valley, NY. Ramirez was indicted on:

• One Count of Murder in the Second Degree
• Two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

At approximately 10:30 pm on January 21, 2020, officers of the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the area of 7 Prospect Gardens, Spring Valley, NY. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle which had crashed into the building at Prospect Gardens. Located inside of the vehicle was Juvenson Paul, 28, of Spring Valley, who had been fatally shot prior to the car accident. An extensive two-year investigation by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office resulted in the Grand Jury Indictment of Jack Ramirez for the murder of Mr. Paul.
“Today’s indictment is the culmination of a thorough investigation and great police work by the Spring Valley Police Department. A special thanks to the detectives from the Spring Valley Police Department for working closely with my office to ensure justice is served.

I can only hope this news brings some comfort to the family and friends of Juvenson Paul. My office will bring to justice those who engage in such brutal and senseless acts of violence.” Said District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.

Ramirez was arraigned today on the indictment before the Honorable Larry J. Schwartz in Rockland County Court and was remanded. The defendant is scheduled to return to court on March 1, 2022 at 9:30 am. This case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Supervising Assistant District Attorney Ryan Sweeney.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
