New COVID Restrictions, What Rockland County Needs to Know

On Tuesday, Governor Cuomo announced a new initiative to clamp down on the growing COVID-19 hotspots throughout New York State. On that list was Rockland County. Here are the major points of the initiative you need to know.
- While New York City got a a three tier zoning system that decided the location of the restrictions, Rockland County will only be getting two. The red zone, which covers parts of zip codes 10977 and 10952, will have strict restrictions, while the yellow zone will be significantly looser.
- Red Zone – Schools Closed, houses of worship restricted to 25% to a maximum of 10 people, mass gatherings prohibited, restaurants take out only, and Only essential businesses open.
- Yellow Zone – Schools open with mandatory weekly testing, houses of worship restricted to 50% capacity, mass gatherings restricted to 25 people indoor or outdoor, all businesses open, and indoor and outdoor dining allowed with maximum four people per table.
- The new restrictions will begin to be enforced tomorrow, Thursday October 8th.
- The restrictions will be enforced by the State, with local officers assisting.
- The fine for sponsors of mass gatherings has been raised to $15,000.
