New Grassy Point Bridge in Haverstraw Now Open

County Executive Ed Day joined with the County Highway Department and the Town of Haverstraw to celebrate the completion of the new Grassy Point Bridge in Haverstraw. The old bridge carrying Grassy Point Rd over the Minisceongo Creek had posed safety concerns to motorists and pedestrians according to bridge inspection reports.

Now capable of carrying all legal loads, the new modern bridge was constructed adjacent to the old bridge in order to maintain traffic throughout the construction process. The removal of the existing old superstructure, along with some minor work, will be complete in the next few months.

Construction began last November and the new bridge officially opened on November 29, 2023.
