New Kuntres Defends The Sanctity of A Beard

The Tur (Orach Chaim 581) quotes a cryptic Midrash, describing the grooming practices that are observed on Erev Rosh Hashanah.

Over the years, some have claimed that shaving the beard can be defended based on this Midrashic passage.

Now, just in time for Erev Rosh Hashanah, a new kuntres has been prepared for publication, in which the author provides eleven approaches to rigorously and conclusively refute these claims.

This 30-page Hebrew work is excerpted from the 1,224-page sefer Hadras Ponim Zokon, an encyclopedic treatise on the beard in Jewish law.

Also featured as an addendum is a spirited rebuttal of a criticism on the sefer Hadras Ponim Zokon. This rejoinder earned the endorsement of Rav Chaim Kanievsky shlita, who reviewed its content and responded, “You have written well” (a facsimile of his hand-written statement of support is included in the booklet).
