New Rockland Grant to Enhance Communications Between First Responders

A new $772,788 Grant to enhance communications between First Responders got the signature of Rockland County Executive Ed Day.

Some large buildings can cause interference with radio signals because of their structural components which can prevent first responders from staying connected.

The grant funding will be used to survey schools and large buildings around Rockland. Any found to have this issue will have amplifiers installed to strengthen radio signals so police departments, fire departments and emergency medical providers are always able to remain in contact.

County Executive Ed Day was joined by Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco to sign a resolution approving funding from the New York State Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Services.
