New York State Police Investigating Late Night Fatal Crash on the Palisades Near Haverstraw

A fatal crash shut down the Palisades in the early hours of Sunday morning, when an SUV involved was sheered in half and an occupant killed.

“On February 26, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., New York State Police from the Haverstraw barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the town of Haverstraw,” the NYS Police wrote in a press release. “A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Hyundai was traveling northbound near exit 13, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.”

Hatzoloh and local EMS were on scene and provided care for the driver who was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The passenger in the vehicle, Chevy Thomas, age 36, who along with the driver was from Maybrook, New York, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
