NJ Gas Tax Increase Makes it the 4th Most Expensive Gas in the Country

Many drivers who routinely wait to fill up their tank at a cheaper New Jersey gas tank might now have to think twice, as the state raised it’s gas tax Thursday.
The New Jersey gas tax added an additional 9.3 cents per gallon, hiking the total tax to 50.7 cents, the 4th highest in the nation.
New Jersey’s Department of the Treasury has said that the increase is due to lower fuel consumption trends that have been “exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The change will hurt the pockets of many Rockland County residents, as the state with one of the lowest gas tax has earned a spot in the top five most expensive.
