Opioid Deaths Reach Three Year Record, and The Year Is Not Over Yet

The opioid crisis has not passed by Rockland County.

As part of a public awareness campaign, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office publishes the most up to date statistics about the deadly opioid epidemic facing many families, and they just hit a three year record.

Since the beginning of 2021, Rockland County has seen 45 Opioid deaths, a record over 2020 with 31 deaths, and 2019 with 41 deaths.

To put the scope of the crisis into perspective, the District Attorney’s office also published the number of those who survived opioid overdose. Those numbers also show a large increase.

So far in 2021, 158 incidents were logged as being survived opioid overdoses. The number is slightly less than 2020’s 168 incidents, but a major jump over 2019’s 117.

An individual can also walk in to any participating police department and ask for help.
