O&R Partnership with Google Nest Gives $5 Devices To Help Rockland Residents Save Money
Orange & Rockland (O&R) today announced it is providing the Google Nest Thermostat to customers for the incredibly low price of $5 now through July 10 to help customers take control of their energy usage. The manufacturer suggested retail price for these devices is $129.99.
The initiative is a collaboration between Google, Uplight, and Orange & Rockland, aiming to lower energy bills for all O&R customers while providing grid balancing benefits amid rising temperatures and inflation. Google Nest Thermostats are available for purchase through the My ORU Store, O&R’s online marketplace.
Smart thermostats allow customers to control household energy use and keep energy consumption low, without sacrificing comfort. On average, Nest thermostats can save the average O&R customer 8% on heating and cooling costs.

The Nest Thermostat is easy to use with multi-language capabilities and simple settings. It’s compatible with the Google Home app, allowing users to schedule and control the home’s temperature remotely. Built-in HVAC monitoring makes sure heating and cooling systems are running smoothly. If something doesn’t seem right, it can send an alert. Remote control and mobile notifications require working internet and Wi-Fi.
The Nest thermostat even provides helpful reminders, like when it’s time to change air filters and suggestions for routine maintenance. Alerts can notify you of a potential issue with an eligible HVAC system. They’re meant to provide helpful information.
This offer is available to all eligible O&R customers now until July 10, 2023. Eligibility is based on service type including, NY residential customers with natural gas accounts or central air conditioning with enrollment in the Smart Savers demand response program. Customers can get the Nest Thermostat for $5 and can redeem the offer through Orange & Rockland’s online marketplace. Customers are responsible for all applicable sales tax and shipping charges.
