O&R Provides $2 Million for Largest Electric Vehicle Charging Project in Its Service Territory

Harbors at Haverstraw has energized hundreds of Level 2 electric vehicle chargers across a dozen buildings – the latest investment, a more than $2 million project – through Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc.’s (O&R) PowerReady incentive program, making it the largest EV charging project in O&R’s service territory.

Exhaust from cars, trucks, and buses represent one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions across the country. Through O&R’s PowerReady program, and in partnership with INF Associates, the incentives covered over 85 percent of the costs associated with upgrading Harbors at Haverstraw’s electric infrastructure to make the site suitable for hundreds of Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations. Level 2 chargers can fully charge a battery overnight.

Overall, these upgrades will help make the transition to electric vehicles more affordable for both station operators and drivers.

“Through our PowerReady incentive program, we’re supporting the buildout of a widespread network to bring electric vehicle charging to all drivers in our region,” said Andrew Farrell, director, E-Mobility, O&R. “We are proud to support the largest electric vehicle charging site in our service territory as we work with our community partners to transition away from fossil fuels and towards a cleaner energy future.”

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Harbors at Haverstraw, O&R and FirstService Residential on this groundbreaking EV charging project,” said Charles dePuthod, president, INF Associates. “This initiative not only supports the transition to sustainable transportation but also underscores our commitment to providing innovative and reliable EV charging solutions. By increasing the availability of charging stations, this project will encourage more people to adopt electric vehicles, contributing to New York State’s ambitious climate goals. INF is proud to be a developer supporting the electrification across the state, and this project represents a significant step towards a cleaner environment and a sustainable future.”
