Orange and Rockland Utilities Mobilizes to Restore Service as Damaging Storms Knock Out Power Throughout the Region
Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) has mobilized its emergency response workforce to repair damage and restore power outages that are resulting from heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms rolling through the region today.
A heavy thunderstorm could pose a significant threat to electric service because its associated high winds and lightning strikes contribute to downing trees, tree limbs and overhead electric lines – all of which could interfere with the safe, reliable delivery of electric service.
O&R company and contractor overhead line crews and tree removal experts, customer service operators and the rest of the members of the O&R emergency response team are activated and deployed.
At 7 a.m. today, approximately 7579 customers are temporarily without electric service because of storm damage. Here are the largest current outages and their locations:
ORANGE COUNTY 5765
Wawayanda 5041
Wallkill 509
Monroe 61
Mount Hope 58
SULLIVAN COUNTY 1749
Lumberland 1749
PASSAIC COUNTY 36
West Milford 36
