Peekskill Man Dies in Head On Crash on The Palisades Parkway

On August 29, 2021 at 4:50am, Officers from the State Police based in Haverstraw and the Monroe barracks responded to a fatal two vehicle crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point.

Initial investigation from the wreck revealed that a Honda Civic traveling Northbound was being operated by Raul B. Ortunouzha, age 29 from Peekskill, who failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway resulting in the Civic crossing over the median into Southbound traffic and striking a 2020 Mercedes Benz head on.

Ortunouzha was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Mercedes Benz suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
