Ramapo Police Station Antenna Tower Taken Down

by Monsey.info

The Ramapo Police station in Airmont will never look the same.

Thanks to significant changes in communications technology, the massive antenna tower that has stood proudly on top of the station was no longer needed, so it has been taken down.

“If your traveling on Route 59 in Airmont this morning you may notice that the skyline looks a little different,” the Ramapo Police Department wrote on Facebook. “Yesterday, crews from NYCOMCO and Olori Crane Service took down the radio tower at RPD.”

The tower had been in place since 1967, holding high the required antennas needed for radio communication. With the now available technology, the antennas are now safely mounted directly to the roof of the station.
