Rash of Car Thefts In Rockland County

by Monsey.info

A rash of car thefts has hit Rockland County, prompting both the Ramapo Police Department and Rockland Chaverim to release a Public Service Announcement.

The thefts all surrounded newer model cars in which the owners had left their key fobs. Left inside the car, these key fobs do not allow car doors to lock, making them easy picking for theives.

“Multiple stolen vehicles last night. All of them had their keys left inside!
Lock your car. Take your keys. Hide your belongings,” tweeted Chaverim.

The exact number of thefts over Wednesday night was not published, but prompted the Ramapo Police Department to urge the community to be vigilant.

“Don’t make it easy for car thieves! Lock your vehicle and remove the key fob EVERY TIME you park your vehicle.”
