Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today the plea of guilty by a Rockland County Corrections Officer to Tampering with Public Records 1st (felony – Penal Law Section 175.25) and Official Misconduct (misdemeanor – Penal Law Section 195.00)
John Kezek, 35, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Florida, NY appeared before the Honorable David S. Zuckerman in Rockland County Court. The investigation would result in charges to Mr. Kezek and the guilty plea and resignation of another corrections officer. As a part of his plea of guilty, the defendant admitted to making false entries into the records maintained by the Correctional Division of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office; the defendant also admitted to exposing himself to a female inmate while working in his official capacity on November 27, 2019.
“Today’s guilty plea sends a clear message that the mistreatment of prisoners will not be tolerated in Rockland County. I want to reiterate to the residents of Rockland that the men and women of the Rockland County Corrections Division are true professionals. The actions of this individual in no way reflects the values and dedication shown everyday by those officers.” said District Attorney Tom Walsh.
Kezek is scheduled to be sentenced on March 15, 2022. The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin and Senior Assistant District Attorney Veronica Phillips.
