Rockland County Plumber Arrested After Bilking Local Homeowners

by Monsey.info

Over the course of the last two years, the Rockland County Office of Consumer Protection received several consumer complaints against a Rockland County based plumbing company named Premier 1 Plumbing & Heating. The complaints were filed because of unsatisfactory work and/or work not completed as agreed upon after pre-payment for services. In one of the cases, the company operator, Michael Polloni, took money from a homeowner and never returned to even begin the project.

In each of these cases, the Office of Consumer Protection initiated criminal prosecutions against Michael Polloni for unlicensed plumbing which is a Class A Misdemeanor under Rockland County law. Additionally, since the homeowners experienced a financial loss because of Mr. Polloni, each criminal case has a restitution request attached to it in order to recover lost funds for the homeowners.

After working with the homeowners in securing prosecutions against Michael Polloni, he was contacted by all of the local courts for the dates and times to report to face the charges against him. Mr. Polloni failed to appear for all of his scheduled court dates. Because Mr. Polloni did not appear to face his 3 prosecutions, 3 warrants were issued for his arrest.

On February 3, 2022, the Office of Consumer Protection received information, from an anonymous source, that Michael Polloni was working in a residential property in Piermont. Consumer Protection Inspectors were dispatched to the location where they identified Michael Polloni at the location and, with the assistance of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, he was placed under arrest. With Michael Polloni now appearing to face the charges against him, the Office of Consumer Protection will continue to work diligently to obtain restitution on behalf of the homeowners.

The news was greeted happily by Rockland Executive Ed Day, who wrote “Great work by Rockland County Consumer Protection! Since the homeowners experienced a financial loss, each criminal case has a restitution request attached to it in order to recover lost funds for the homeowners.”

The Rockland County Office of Consumer Protection would like to remind everyone that the licensing contracting laws are in place to protect the citizens of the county. If you have questions about the licensing status of any contractor, please call the Office at (845)364-3901.
