Rockland County Tackles EMT Shortage
by Monsey.info
It’s a difficult job, with few future prospects and not great pay, buts it’s 100% necessary.
Emergency Medical Technicians, commonly known as EMT’s, are in short supply in Rockland County, as well as everywhere else in the world.
The shortage stems from many factors. Difficult work conditions, low pay, and little future career prospects. Yet they are vital for the modern field of emergency medicine, and therefore, something had to be done about the shortage.
To fight the shortage, Rockland Community College announced a new expedited EMT training in Rockland. The three-month class has room for 18 students and begins in January.
County Executive Ed Day joined with other local elected officials to encourage those who are unemployed or underemployed to explore this new program and career path.
