Rockland Gets State Funding To Combat Drug Abuse

Rockland County Executive Ed Day signed a resolution this week with Acting Commissioner of Mental Health Dr. Susan Hoerter, approving the acceptance of funding from the NYS OASAS to the Rockland County Department of Health.

The funds, in the amount of $228,288, are to be distributed to the Village of Haverstraw Drug Abuse Prevention Council for substance abuse primary prevention services, prevention counseling, and early intervention services.

Rockland County has seen a growing crisis from drug abuse and drug-related deaths, especially those related to opioid use.

Startling numbers in 2020 showed hundreds of deaths related to opioid use, spurring action across the county.
