Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Captain Arrested For Stealing From Organization

Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps., a now defunct volunteer ambulance service in Rockland County has become the scene of an investigation by local and state attorneys.
Matthew Gannon, the fifty three year old captain of the volunteer organization, stands accused of stealing over $22,000 from it for hos own profit.
The news was broken Thursday by Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, who announced that he investigation had begin in July of this year, after the organization had closed.
Gannon faces four felony charges: grand larceny, falsifying business records, offering a false statement for filing and scheme to defraud.
In his statement, Walsh said “The arrest of a member of the volunteer emergency services of Rockland is always a sad day in the county. The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office will be conducting a historical forensic audit to determine if any further criminal activity occurred and whether additional criminal charges are warranted.”
Gannon went in front of a judge Thursday, and was released pending a further court date.
