Social Worker Attacked After Responding To Disturbed Teenager

A social worker who responded to an emergency call for a disturbed teenager became a victim Thursday, after the teenager tackled and beat her.

The social worker, part of the Rockland County Behavioral Health Response Team and employed by ockland Paramedic Services, had responded to the call for a young male acting irrational, and was tackled into a dresser and punched her multiple times in the face.

A Ramapo police officer who was also on scene was also punched in the face. Both sustained injuries from the assault and were transported to local medical facilities, according to the Ramapo Police Department.

The police department also announced that both the officer and social worker remain out of work for the time being due to their injuries.

The teenager was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following the incident, and will face a judge for assault in family court.
