Starting Today: Rockland Area Codes To Require All Digits For Local Calls
by Monsey.info
Starting today, October 24th, phone calls in the 845 and 914 area codes, which include Monsey, will need all ten digits to complete local calls.
To complete calls, people will have to dial the area code followed by the phone number number.
The change is the result of the Federal Communications Commission’s adoption of 988 as a new three-digit number to be used nationwide for the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline, creating the shift to 10-digit dialing in some area codes.
The area code changes are occurring in 35 states.
