Statement from Town of Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel

The Town of Ramapo Police Department is in the midst of a complex multi-agency criminal investigation into the five attempted murders that occurred this past Saturday night at a Hanukkah celebration in Monsey N.Y. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those attacked as well as their families as they recover from this horrific event.

We are grateful for the immediate assistance provided to RPD from our law enforcement, EMS, community service partners and the public this past Saturday night. I am keenly aware of the desire for information related to our investigation. However, from a law enforcement perspective, it would not be prudent to offer any additional comments about the investigation at this juncture.

The Ramapo Police Department has taken steps to bolster patrol in our affected communities and continues to provide full police services throughout our jurisdiction.

Our Police Department’s mission is based upon a partnership with the community we serve, and to that end we continue to encourage the public to report any suspicious activity to the police department.
