Storm Watch: O&R Ramping Up to Make Repairs, Restore Power as More T-Storms Approach

O&R is preparing to mobilize its company-wide emergency response group to repair damage and restore electric service interruptions that could possibly result from scattered severe thunderstorms expected across the region from late afternoon today through this evening.

Another round of rain and isolated severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours is predicted from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Locally heavy downpours are possible, total rainfall .50 of an inch to 2 inches. High temperatures will range from 81 to 86 degrees. Winds are expected sustained 5-15 m.p.h., gusting to 25 m.p.h. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible during this time. Severe thunderstorms contain wind gusts over 57 mph, hail more than 1-inch in diameter or tornadoes

O&R company and contractor overhead line crews and tree removal experts also will be activated for storm duty today. Customer service operations and the O&R teams that support the emergency response effort will be mobilized in late afternoon.

For safety’s sake, O&R warns the public not to touch or approach any downed wire. Assume it is energized and dangerous. Call O&R immediately toll-free 1-877-434-4100. Depending on the situation, you may also consider calling your local police to divert traffic until an O&R crew arrives.
