The Action Never Stops
The Rockland County of today is far from the ‘Monsey’ of a few decades ago.
If this is true for all aspects of community life, it is even more notable in the wide-ranging efforts and wide-reaching effects of Hatzoloh of Rockland County.
Today, the once-small Hatzoloh is one of the most well-respected forces for good in the Jewish world. Covering an area that is now dozens of square miles in size, Hatzoloh now boasts an army and infrastructure that stands proud and is already ready for —
180 members, 58 medics, 19 ambulances, 9 garages… These all represent the staggering 18,000 calls that Hatzoloh receives annually.
As a social service, the burden to meet this demand naturally belongs to all who rely on — and benefit from — this chesed that never takes a day off.
In addition to covering the organization’s astronomical operating budget (medical equipment, gas, maintenance, insurance, overhead, training etc.), there are is also the need for urgent capital investments such as three new ambulances, garages in some of Monsey’s expanding communities, and other endeavors that will greatly improve Hatzoloh’s response time — and life-saving impact.
All in all, the total cost of all Hatzoloh’s operations reached an astronomical $7,800,000 this year.
Let’s break it down:
Hatzoloh’s operating budget is $4,800,000.
Yes, there is some income from insurance, grants and government programs, but a deficit of $1,600,000 still remains.
Additionally, there are much needed capital improvements, including projects like new garages, new ambulances, upgrades etc. which will cost another $3,000,000.
In total — between operations and necessary expansion — there remains a financial gap of $4,600,000, which can only be met through the support of local residents; yes, those whom Hatzoloh so loyally serves.
Today, the community is united in taking ACTION. Klal Yisroel will support those who are there for Klal Yisroel and thereby merit what Chazal say that ‘he who saves a single soul is as if he saved an entire world!’
