
Thousands in the Dark After Windy Storm Takes Out Power in Rockland County

Orange&Rockland crews are hard at work putting thousands of Rockland residents back online after last night’s storm left them in the dark.
According to reports, over 13,000 residents have lost power after the storm swept through the county, downing trees and powerlines.
By 8:00am utility companies were reporting about 15,000 people out of power in Orange County and 13,000 in Rockland County.
Orange&Rockland Utilities is asking everyone to report their outages by Texting “OUT” to 69678 (myORU), reporting it online at http://oru.com/reportoutage, downloading their mobile app, or calling at 1-877-434-4100.
They are also warning residents against going near downed wires, saying “If you see any downed wires, assume they are live and dangerous, and do not touch or approach them. Call us immediately at 1-877-434-4100.”
