Three Men Indicted For The July Murder of A Spring Valley Teen
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that a Rockland County Grand Jury has indicted three Haverstraw men of multiple felonies stemming from the July 8, 2022 murder of a teen in Spring Valley, New York.
Anthony Mitchell, 23 of Haverstraw, New York, Ahmad Williams, 22 of Haverstraw, New York, and Brian Thomas, 20 of Haverstraw, New York were all charged with the following:
• CT. 1: Murder in the Second Degree (PL § 125.25 (1))
• CT. 2: Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (PL § 110/125/25 (1))
• CT. 3: Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (PL § 265.03 (1) (b))
• CT. 4: Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (PL § 265.03 (1) (b))
• CT. 5: Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (PL § 265.03 (3)))
• CT. 6: Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (PL § 265.03 (3))
On July 8, 2022, at approximately 2:30 am the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the parking lot of 150 West Eckerson Road in the Village of Spring Valley for a report of a male who had been shot. Arriving officers found a young man suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately started rendering life-saving medical care. Emergency medical professionals continued care before transporting the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The victim, 17-year-old Treynahel Cineus, a Spring Valley resident who was heading into his senior year at Ramapo High School.
District Attorney Tom Walsh said, “The senseless killing of a high school student with such a bright future ahead of him has left our community shocked and in anger. As a father, no parent should ever have to bury their own child.
With the arrest of multiple suspects, we begin the process of seeking justice for Treynahel Cineus. I would like to thank the Spring Valley Police Department, Haverstraw Police Department, and the other agencies involved for their investigative work in apprehending the alleged suspects. “
All three defendants were remanded to Rockland County Jail and will return to court on August 17, 2022 before the Honorable Judge Kevin Russo.
The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Nabeela McLeod and Senior Assistant District Attorney Matthew Martinez.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
