Moderate to severe thunderstorms are expected to pass over Rockland County Shabbos day, potentially leading to some damage to local infrastructure.

“O&R is activating its company-wide emergency response group to repair damage and restore electric service interruptions that could result Saturday from mid-morning scattered thunderstorms — some possibly severe later in the day — that are expected to pummel the area,” O&R wroe in a Press Release.

O&R’s company and contractor overhead line crews and its tree removal experts are mobilizing for deployment early Saturday afternoon. Customer service operations and the wide array of O&R teams that support those functions also will mobilize then.

Temperatures and humidity are due to increase today and tomorrow with high pressure in control. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible across O&R’s service area Friday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The weather is expected to remain warm and humid into Saturday with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as a cold front crosses the area. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Temperatures are expected to return to normal Sunday and Monday.
