Traffic Stop in Clarkstown Leads to Arrest of New York City Man on Drug Charges

On April 29, 2022, at approximately 6:11pm, state troopers observed a 2010 Honda in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic law.

The troopers stopped the vehicle on Town Line Road in the town of Clarkstown and identified the operator as Daniel B. Amster, age 20, from New York City. The vehicle that Amster was operating was not registered, and the troopers conducted an inventory search of the vehicle before it was towed from the scene.

While searching the vehicle, troopers located a plastic baggie containing Psilocybin mushrooms, and an unidentifiable white powdery substance inside of plastic capsules in unmarked medicine containers.

Amster was subsequently arrested and charged with the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree.

He was released on an appearance ticket and several traffic tickets.
