UPDATED: Horrific Crash in Woodmere Takes The Life of a Jewish Teenager

Tragedy struck the North Woodmere Jewish community Motzei Shabbos in a horrific crash that took the life of a Jewish teenager.

According to preliminary reports, a white sedan with multiple passengers was driving just moments before 11:00pm Motzei Shabbos, when they were struck by a drunk driver at the intersection of Peninsula Blvd and Edward Ave.

The drunk driver, who was driving a pickup truck, appeared to have been speeding and collided with such force that the sedan was thrown a distance and sustained heavy damage.

Miraculously, a Hatzalah volunteer was only seconds behind, arriving on scene and calling for backup.

Four Hatzalah Ambulances from Rockaway-Lawrence Hatzalah with full crews responded, transporting the injured to the hospital.

Tragically, a teenager in the vehicle was pronounced dead soon after, according to reports. The identity of the deceased has not yet been made public as of the publication of this article.

The driver of the pickup truck was reported to have been arrested by the police.

Update: The driver of the Dodge pickup truck was doing 65mph in a 30mph zone and was drunk.

Update: The deceased teenager has been identified as Liel Namdar OBM, a 15-year-old girl from Great Neck.

Update: A memo released by Camp Sternberg identified the niftar as being an alumnus of the camp. Liel Namdar had just left a reunion before being killed in the tragic crash.
