Two Arrests Made In Monsey Burglary

On August 14, 2023, the Ramapo Police Department received a report of a past burglary of a business on Route 59 in Monsey. The burglary had occurred on August 10, 2023 and the business owner confirmed that proceeds of the burglary included several business checks. RPD detectives investigated the incident and were able to ascertain that three stolen checks were cashed at different locations in Ramapo, Spring Valley, and the Bronx. Through diligent effort, RPD detectives were able to identify 2 females who uttered the checks.

One of the females, a 38-year-old from Northeast Ramapo, was arrested on August 15, 2023, for her role and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Petit Larceny.

Through further investigation, the male suspect involved in the burglary was identified by RPD detectives. On yesterday’s date, that suspect, and the female suspect were observed together by detectives in Spring Valley. Assisted by patrol, the vehicle was stopped and both parties were arrested.

The female, a 40-year-old from New City was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Petit Larceny. The male, a 43-year-old from New City was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Forgery, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Petit Larceny. The male was also in possession of crack cocaine and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

All parties were released on their own recognizance pending future court appearances.
